Nemedic Launches Free AI Assistant Helping Physicians Comment on CMS Modifier-25 Payment Cuts

WESTFIELD, Ind. — Nemedic has released a free AI assistant that helps physicians submit personalized comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on the agency’s proposal to reduce payment for evaluation and management services billed with modifier 25.

The tool was built at the request of a practicing otolaryngologist who asked whether the company could turn its agent architecture toward the rulemaking process. Nemedic’s engineering team built it in about a week.

It works entirely by email. A physician verifies an email address, answers questions about their own practice, and receives a comment letter written from their specific circumstances rather than assembled from template paragraphs. Roughly 70 physicians had used it within days of release.

“A form letter and a real letter do not carry the same weight with an agency,” said Bradford G. Bichey, MD, MPH, Nemedic’s founder and chief executive officer. “The difference is whether it contains your data.”

The assistant follows an earlier Nemedic email agent that physicians used to write to Congress during consideration of H.R. 6160.
